Is Kentucky In?

how to order lasix drip Many experts said that the Kentucky Wildcats had to win at least one game in the SEC Baseball Tournament to get off the bubble and solidify a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

Kentucky finished 34-22 overall and 13-17 in conference play.  According to D1Baseball.com, they have an RPI of 29. The Cats climbed into the top 10 at the beginning of the year while starting 14-2.   But the team finished the season 20-20 while battling injuries.

Some key series wins were against Texas Tech, Georgia, Mississippi State and Auburn (regular season). Some key series losses were against Tennessee and Alabama.

I think that Kentucky should be in because it is a team that can explode offensively. Three Kentucky stars Kole Cottam, Tristan Pompey and Luke Becker together have a .324 season batting average.

When Monday rolls around, there are going to be a lot of nerves and curious minds in Lexington.  What do you think? Should Kentucky get in?  Please comment below!

  1. I don’t know if a 29 RPI and a 13-18 (after tourney) SEC record is going to get them in. Their pitching has let them down this year and I think that losing a series to the two teams (AL and TN) that didn’t qualify for the SEC tournament will ultimately keep them out.

The other thing that will hurt them is the other “bubble team” in the SEC before Hoover was LSU, which is on a roll right now and may win the tournament again! That’s not good for KY because the committee is only going to take so many teams from the SEC.

    Good question, G!

I actually do think an RPI of 29 will be good enough to get them in. But on the flip side, the series losses against Alabama and Tennessee will really hurt their chances. Also, Sean Hjelle really is the only pitcher Kentucky has that they can rely on and feel confident about.
